Welcome to Mind and Body Connections LLC, where nurturing the mind and body is the cornerstone of our practice. Part of our mission is taking care of the whole person. We believe that physical ailments and conditions may cause mental strain, just as emotional/mental imbalance may cause physical symptoms. Because of our belief, we find that it is of utmost importance that clients meet all aspects of physical well being as well as mental well being. Because our provider is double board certified as both a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, she is very familiar with medical conditions that may be responsible for mental health symptoms. Because of her training, she will be certain to work with your primary care provider at ruling out medical causes of your symptoms while she addresses your mental health needs.
Mind and Body Connections is located in Opelousas, LA. The office is located inside of Acadiana Practitioners office. The physical address is 1119 Prudhomme Circle, Suite B, Opelousas, LA 70570. We are a small private practice looking to provide individualized care. We realize that there are differences in each of us and we look to provide care that is consistent with your individual needs. We service all of St. Landry Parish and surrounding areas, including Lafayette, Ville Platte, Eunice, and Church Point, just to name a few.
About
Wronetta Charles is the owner and founder of Mind and Body Connections LLC. She is dually certified as a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner.
Wronetta completed her undergraduate studies in nursing at Southern University and A & M College. She practiced a few years as a registered nurse and then decided to pursue higher education in advanced practice nursing. In 2003, she graduated with a Master's degree in Nursing Education, and one year later in 2004, she completed her education to become a family nurse practitioner. This was all achieved at Southern University and A & M College.
Wronetta has practiced as a family nurse practitioner for the past 13.5 years in primary care and the last 2.5 years as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Wronetta is committed to health care as well as the profession of nurse practitioners. Because of this commitment, she furthered her academic preparation and received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Through her numerous years working in primary care, Wronetta identified a significant lack of access to mental health care for clients. Because of this lack of access, she decided to pursue certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, which she attained in 2017 from Southeastern Louisiana University. She is committed to helping clients achieve balance in their lives.
On a personal note, Wronetta is a native of the area. She is of this culture. She is very passionate about her commitment to her clients. She is committed to bringing services to clients in and around the area. Wronetta takes pride in her commitment and dedication to her clients.
Services Provided
Providing diagnostic services and medication management for the following disorders:
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Social Anxiety Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Panic Disorder
- ADHD
- Oppositional Defiance Disorder
- Sleep Disorders
- Thought Disorders, including schizophrenia and delusional disorders
Services are provided to clients across the life span starting at age 8.
We believe that psychotherapy plays a huge part in mental health care and will make recommendations for a therapist as needed.
We also provide orders and schedule tests for appropriate diagnostic tests such as labs and EKGs. We will order and schedule any tests deemed necessary to treat you.
We also provide telepsychiatry services to those clients meeting the criteria. Telepsychiatry services will be provided on an as needed basis after meeting visit criteria. No complex cases will be completed via telepsychiatry. Telepsychiatry is a secured audio and visual platform that will allow us to see and speak to each other at the same time while connected through a medium such as a computer, tablet, etc.

We are also credentialed with Tricare East, but this will not take effect until 1/1/2018.
We are in the credentialing processes with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Vantage Health, Wellcare, Optum, Humana, Aetna, and all of the Louisiana Medicaid Managed Care insurance companies. Please call to check with us regarding status updates on the pending credentialing applications.
For those without insurance or whose insurance we do not accept, we do offer affordable cash rates.
